Recently, a professional gang theft case occurred again at Tesla's Nevada factory in the United States. Illegal elements disguised themselves as logistics providers, forged documents to drive semi-trailers, and normally took away the Powerwall 3 household energy storage battery of the whole vehicle. The empty vehicle was abandoned in the wilderness afterwards.
It is reported that since December 2024, there have been at least 11 such battery theft cases in the factory, nine in January 2025 alone, with a single batch of batteries worth $4.5 million, and Tesla's total loss exceeding $5 million (about 33.83 million yuan).
Eventually, three young suspects in Northern California were arrested by the police, but they were only the bottom link of the criminal chain, and some of the stolen batteries had been sold on second-hand platforms. It
is the high profits brought by the power shortage and energy storage subsidies in the United States that have led to the frequent occurrence of large-scale and organized freight theft.
