On May 1, a lithium battery energy storage container fire broke out at Rufford Energy Storage Station in the suburb of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, UK. Located at the former site of Rufford Coal Mine,
the power station adopts a unique double-layer stacked energy storage design with a power of 7.5M W and lithium batteries provided by LG. The power station was officially put into operation in 2017.
It was found that the fire was concentrated in a lithium battery energy storage container. At present, the fire has been effectively controlled, with no casualties and only a single energy storage container damaged.
