Sephaku Cement has new projects underway to expand its operations in South Africa. Power distribution at the company’s state-of-the-art cement milling plant, located in Delmas in the Mpumalanga province, has begun.

“With the Eskom substation having been switched on in September, power was connected to the plant’s primary electrical room this month,” said Andre Roeloffze, Project Manager at the plant. “From here on, power will systematically be distributed to the plant’s three other electrical rooms.” Power distribution to the entire plant will be done over the next two months. The plant is on track to launch early in the new year.

Furthermore, a new limestone operation near Lichtenburg will begin in early 2014, with the first limestone due to be produced in May 2014. According to local news reports, work has already begun on the main haul road. The limestone mine will supply the company’s cement operations in the region, however the contractor is yet to be confirmed.
