Following on from the success of INTERCEM ASIA in Beijing in 2003, INTERCEM and its Chinese partner, Sinoma, are pleased to announce that the INTERCEM CHINA Conference will take place in September 2004 in Shanghai. This event will be the first international cement conference fully dedicated to the Chinese cement market.

The Chinese cement industry first presented itself to the world at the INTERCEM ASIA Conference, with China’s Vice Premier, Zeng Pei Yan, opening the event. Introductions to the Chinese cement industry were given by the leaders of the State Authorities and top management of the largest Chinese cement groups. More than 500 delegates attended this unique conference which offered an unequalled opportunity for the international and Chinese cement industries to meet and exchange information.
China's cement industry produces 40% of the world's cement. A massive restructuring and privatisation process is currently taking place, with 100% foreign ownership allowed. Over 700 million tonnes of new production capacity is scheduled to be built in the next 15 years in order to meet growing cement consumption and to replace outdated vertical kiln cement plants.
INTERCEM CHINA will look at the Chinese cement industry in depth. Overviews will be given on both the Chinese cement market as a whole and on regional issues.
Topics to be covered include:
What factors are influencing these markets?
What are the characteristics of a change from Government controlled to a market guided cement industry?
What are the opportunities for foreign investors?
What is the status of the Chinese cement manufacturing technology and cement distribution?
What potential does the international market hold for the largest Chinese cement groups?
