Hong Kong approves 28 building plans

Hong Kong Buildings Department approved 28 building plans in January, including 11 on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and 11 in the New Territories, according to a statement issued by the department on Monday

Of the approved plans, 10 were for apartment and apartment / commercial developments, four were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments, and 12 were for community services developments, the department said.

In the same month, consent was given for work to start on nine building projects that, when completed, will provide 139,709 square meters of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1,951 units, and 35,808 square meters of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 10 building projects.

The department also issued 12 occupation permits, including five in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.

Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 191,589 square meters, involving 1,116 units, and 129,972 square meters for non-domestic use.

The declared cost of the new buildings completed in January totaled about 5.2 billion HK dollars (670.97 billion U.S. dollars).

In addition, seven demolition consents involving seven building structures were issued.

The department received 1,640 complaints against unauthorized building works in January, and issued 1,316 removal orders on unauthorized works.
