Indonesia:Semen Indonesia’s Rembang plant aids local communities

From the start of 2016, Semen Indonesia has channelled Rp.1.78 billion’s worth of aid to the communities around its Rembang plant. Assistance includes the construction of appropriate housing, the creation of a village gate, building latrines, as well as the provision of tree seedlings. Aid was delivered by the Head of the Department of CSR Semen Indonesia, Heru Wahyudi Field Tegaldowo Village, District Gunem, Rembang.

Housing assistance was given to 31 villagers across six villages in Rembang. The construction of houses for residents will begin in February and is expected to be completed in May.

Head of CSR Department, Heru Wahyudi said, "The provision of housing assistance given by the company to the citizens is based on a survey of the team formed by the company, the construction was done by building a new home is not a renovation. This assistance is intended to improve the quality of life of communities around the company. Funds allocated for these activities amounted to Rp1.13 billion ".

"In addition to providing housing assistance to the community, the Indonesian Cement also provide assistance worth Rp134 million to 50 villages around the company. Assistance in the form of making healthy latrines, latrines manufacture is expected to improve the health of communities around the company, "said Heru Wahyudi.

The company also donated Rp208million for the construction of a gate, with the grant being given to four local villages. Additionally, 10 500 tree seedlings, worth Rp309 million, were provided as part of the productiove tree programme. Seedlings included mango, durian, sapodilla, jackfruit and avocados.
