Guangdong, Guangxi Cement Market Underperformed

The cement price in Guangxi Autonomous Region and Guangdong Province has started falling since October, while the price grew in south Jiangsu Province, east Hubei Province and Zhejiang Province.

Insiders said that current cement demand is uneventful and releases no signal of boom, so the cement price keeps fluctuating at a high level.

On October 10, the cement price fell CNY 30 to CNY 50 a ton in Guangxi, which was mainly attributed to more serious flooding and waterlogging in the region and that most cement makers reduced the price as the stockpiles grew rapidly to the picket line due to the basic resumption of production.

Hit by sharply falling cement demand and increasing exports in Guangxi, the price of cement and clinkers dropped CNY 10 to CNY 20 a ton in Zhuhai and Zhaoqing, Guangdong Province. The price temporarily kept stable in other places of Guangdong, such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan and Jiangmen and may drop in the future.

Since October, the price of clinkers and cement in south Jiangsu, including Zhenjiang, Changzhou, Wuxi and Suzhou, grew CNY 20 a ton so that the clinker price reached CNY 370 to CNY 380 a ton and the high-standard bulk cement reached CNY 400 a ton.
