Manila Standard Today reported that when buying cement products, it would be wise to check the labels of cement bags to ensure the quality and type of the product.

The Cement Manufacturers Association of the Philippines said that "This is to avoid problems in the future."

Mr Ernesto Ordoñez president of CeMAP said that consumers should buy the type of cement suitable for their construction needs, adding that there are different types of cement for different types of structures.

He added that "Our members are undertaking an information campaign to provide consumers a better understanding of cement labels. They continue to give full support and compliance to government-imposed standards."

Mr Ordoñez said knowing and understanding cement bag labels would assure consumers they were buying the product suitable for their requirements. He added that "It is important to look for the Product Quality and Safety mark for domestically produced cement or the Import Commodity Clearance mark for imported cement."
