Recently, according to the resolution of the Uzbek government, a cement plant with an annual capacity of 4 million tons will be built in Farish District of Jizak Oblast. The investment is valued at $400 million, according to the Telegram channel of Uzbekistan's Ministry of Justice.
The project will be implemented by the German marketing company Phoenix Consulting GmbH and Medianet in H. M. Hermsen, which have formed a joint venture, UTD Cement, in the form of a limited liability company. At present, the preliminary economic and technical parameters of the project have been approved by the government. In October
last year, Tashkent began construction of a cement plant worth more than $160 million with the assistance of Russian holding company Eurocement Group. In November, Chinese entrepreneurs invested 420 million US dollars to start building a cement plant in Katakurgan District of Samarkand Oblast.
According to 2017 data, there are 12 cement plants in Uzbekistan, with a total annual capacity of more than 9 million tons. Cement production increased by 24% from 2012 to 2016. However, in 2016, Uzbekistan's per capita cement consumption was 268 kg, far below the world average of 433 kg.
However, it is predicted that per capita cement consumption in Uzbekistan will reach at least 328 kg per year by 2020.
