Phosphogypsum is an unavoidable "concomitant problem" in phosphorus chemical industry. For every ton of phosphoric acid produced, about 4.5-5 tons of phosphogypsum will be produced as a by-product.
Hubei ranks first in the country in terms of reserves of phosphate resources, annual mining volume, scale of phosphate chemical industry and output of phosphate fertilizer. The annual production of phosphogypsum is about 27 million tons, which is expected to reach 30 million tons in 2026, accounting for about 40% of the total production in China. In addition, the total stock of phosphogypsum in the province has exceeded 300 million tons.
As the province with the largest amount of phosphogypsum production and retention in China, Hubei has defined the idea of solving the problem as "phosphogypsum acid co-production of cement clinker ".
Up to now, there are 28 production lines of phosphogypsum acid co-production cement clinker in Shangma, Hubei (public announcement/announcement), with a total phosphogypsum disposal capacity of about 30 million tons and a cement clinker production capacity of 10.8 million tons. A circular industrial chain of "phosphogypsum-acid production + cement clinker" is accelerating its formation.
Hubei has made great strides in promoting the project of co-production of phosphogypsum acid and cement clinker, which has also attracted the close attention of relevant parties, including the cement industry. The 16th China Cement Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Technology Exchange Conference and the 1st Solid Waste Comprehensive Utilization and Fluidized Solidified Soil Development Conference, sponsored
by China Cement Network, will be held in Wuhan, Hubei Province on December 3-4. Relevant leaders of Hubei Economic and Credit Department were invited to the conference to share the relevant policies of comprehensive treatment and resource utilization of phosphogypsum in Hubei, and to interpret the policy context, support direction and promotion focus.
