On April 17, the official WeChat of Atlas announced that the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) had made a final decision recently. The two TOPCon battery patents that Trina Solar sued the subject of Atlas in the United States were declared invalid .

In terms of years, the patent dispute between Trina Solar and Atlas has lasted for more than two years.
Initially, in May 2024, the photovoltaic module products shipped to overseas markets by Changshu Atlas Sunshine Power Technology Co., Ltd. (Hereinafter referred to as "Changshu Atlas") were seized by Shanghai Customs. The reason is that it is suspected of infringing patent rights, and the advocate behind it is Trina Solar . In mid-October
2024, Trina Solar filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Atlas and its affiliated companies in the District Court of Delaware. Two TOP Con patented technologies , US9722104 and US10230009, are involved .
And on October 23 of the same year, Trina Solar launched a 337 investigation in the United States International Trade Commission (ITC). On April 21, 2025, the ITC decided to end the 337 investigation.
In response to the relevant patents, Atlas mentioned in its semi-annual report in 2025 that Adani and Runyang New Energy Direction USPTO filed a corresponding patent invalidation application (IPR). USPTO has made a filing review decision in April 2025 and initially considered that at least one Claim of the relevant patent may be invalidated , and Atlas immediately filed a corresponding patent invalidation application.
In addition to overseas, the pull between the two sides is also fierce at home. On February 10,
2025, Trina Solar announced that the company had filed a lawsuit with the Jiangsu Provincial Higher People's Court for infringement of its two invention patents, demanding compensation of 1.058 billion yuan .
Then, on February 11, 2025, Atlas issued a public announcement in response to the incident, arguing that Trina Solar's two patents involved in litigation should be invalid . And its products and processes do not infringe Trina Solar's two patents. For the two patents involved in the lawsuit, Changshu Atlas has submitted an application for patent invalidation.
At the same time, Atlas also disclosed on the same day that it had sued Trina Solar Energy to the Intermediate People's Court of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, in October 2024, on the grounds of infringement of its two patents, demanding that the other party stop infringement and compensate RMB 100 million in total.
According to the semi-annual report of Atlas in 2025, the patent disputes between the two sides in China are still in progress.
