On May 7, the Inner Mongolia Energy Bureau issued the Notice of the Energy Bureau of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Issuing the List of the Second Batch of Independent New Energy Storage Construction Projects in 2026. According to
the Notice, there are 22 projects planned for the second batch of independent new energy storage power stations in the autonomous region, with a total installed capacity of 5.55 GW/22.2G Wh , which will be put into operation in 2026 and 2027.
Among them, Alashan led with five projects totaling 1.2G W/4.8G Wh, and Hohhot ranked second with four projects totaling 1.15G W/4.6G Wh. Xilingol, Wuhai and Wulanchabu were selected for three projects, and Baotou for one project. The scale of these four cities is 2GWh and above. The
22 projects involve 16 owners, led by Inner Mongolia Xingneng Energy Technology Group, CGN, China Energy Construction and Ningxia Baofeng Group, with scales of 0.7 GW/2.8GWh, 0.55GW/2.2GWh, 0.5g W/2GWh and 0.5g W/2GWh respectively. The selected independent energy storage projects in
this round are mainly lithium iron phosphate, in addition to hybrid energy storage. It is worth noting that the 2.2G W/8.8G Wh project adopts grid-type technology. In addition, it also involves semi-solid lithium iron phosphate and hybrid energy storage technology .
In addition, the independent energy storage power stations included in the list are included in the planning of the autonomous region, and the compensation for the discharge of the public power grid is implemented. The compensation standard and compensation time are implemented according to the relevant requirements of the autonomous region. In case of policy adjustment by the state and the autonomous region, the relevant requirements shall prevail.
