In addition, the major cement consuming States were Texas, California, Florida, Ohio, and Illinois (in descending order of consumption), where Portland and blended cement consumption accounted for approximately 37% of total Portland and blended cement shipments for the month.

   In May 2014, clinker production in the United States and Puerto Rico totaled 7.14 million tons, up 6% from a year earlier. From January to May 2014, the output of clinker reached 27.2 million tons, up about 4% year-on-year. In May, the major clinker producing States were Texas, Missouri, California, Florida and Pennsylvania (in descending order of production), which accounted for about 47% of the total clinker production in that month.

   Shipments of masonry cement remained at 206,000 tons in May 2014, up 4% from a year earlier. From January to May 2014, the total shipment volume of masonry cement was 870,000 tons, with a year-on-year increase of about 6%. The major consumer States of masonry cement were Florida, Texas, California, North Carolina and Georgia, which accounted for about 50% of total masonry cement shipments in the month.
