Ethiopia
Ethiopia's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently released a draft strategy for the development of the cement industry, aiming to increase the annual consumption of cement in the country to 20 million tons by 2025. The Ethiopian government is expected to invest $30 million in this development plan. The government said it would provide financial support to cement plants to solve the problem of domestic cement shortage.
Currently, the annual consumption of cement in Ethiopia is 6 million tons.
It is understood that Ethiopia plans to invest 73 billion US dollars in development and reform in five years. In the field of infrastructure , Ethiopia will build 71000 kilometers of new roads in the next five years, mainly to serve the import and export trade. At the same time, 2395 kilometers of new railway lines will be built to connect the capital Addis Ababa and the port of Djibouti and extend to major cities in the country and Addis Ababa. In addition, Ethiopia will expand the construction of water supply infrastructure to provide water for 99% of the country's population and drill 3000 wells every year.
