Western Cement plans to invest US $300 million to build a cement plant in Namibia

   In October, China West Cement signed a cooperation agreement with Namibia's Cheetah Cement Company in Windhoek to invest US $300 million to build a cement plant with an annual output of 1.5 million tons in Otjiwarongo. More than 100 people attended the signing ceremony, including Acting Minister of Trade and Industry, Minister of Land Reform, Chinese Ambassador to Namibia Xin Shunkang, Vice Minister of Finance and Trade and Industry, and Governor of Ojozonjupa Province. In his speech, Ambassador Xin said that the project is another example of investment cooperation between the two countries after the Hushan Uranium Mine and the Wowan Marble Processing Plant of CGN. China is willing to promote the economy of Namibia, especially industrial development, create more employment opportunities and effectively improve the living standards of the local people through investment. Acting Minister of Trade and Industry Esso said that the cement market in Namibia and even Southern Africa has great potential, and the day when the project is put into operation may be the day when the cement is fully self-sufficient and exported, and the prospect is worth looking forward to.
