The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Construction and the Vietnam Cement Association to summarize the proposals to eliminate the difficulties in Vietnam's cement industry, before the long-term impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on Vietnam's total domestic sales and exports declined compared with the same period in 2019.
According to incomplete statistics, the current domestic cement sales volume in Vietnam is only 60% of that in the same period of 2019, which is 48% lower than that at the end of 2019; the export of cement and clinker is significantly reduced to about 70% of that in the same period of 2019, which is 56% lower than that at the end of 2019; Total domestic sales and exports were only 51% compared with the end of 2019.
According to Nguyen Quang Gong, chairman of the Vietnam Cement Association, the reason is that the new coronavirus epidemic has led to a decline in cement sales in the domestic market as well as export markets, especially in China.
In the consumption chart of the cement industry, January of the calendar coincides with the Lunar New Year holiday, so domestic consumption decreases. However, the decline in this sales map will be offset by an increase in balanced exports. Unlike every year, the Lunar New Year and the 2019 coronavirus epidemic coincided this year, so the adverse factors affecting cement sales doubled, leading to a decline in consumption. Before the coronavirus outbreak in 2019, cement manufacturing and trading enterprises were aware of their responsibilities and strictly followed the government's instructions,
according to the Vietnam Cement Association. The Prime Minister seeks measures to prevent the spread of diseases in institutions and enterprises, protect the health and lives of officials and workers, maintain production and business, etc.
Earlier, the Vietnam Cement Association, based on the Prime Minister's proposal, sent documents to the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Finance, the State Bank of Vietnam and the Ministry of Construction to assign ministries to help and eliminate difficulties. Vietnam's cement industry has also suffered due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Vietnam Cement Association earlier sent a document to the Prime Minister, Vietnam's National Ministry of Finance and Bank, and Ministry of Construction, asking the Prime Minister to assign ministries to help and resolve the difficulties in Vietnam's cement industry due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
