In recent years, with the development of Myanmar's local cement manufacturing industry, domestic cement imports have gradually decreased. Data from

the Ministry of Commerce show that Myanmar's cement imports so far in fiscal year 2017-2018 are only $56 million, half of the 1.13 of $billion in the same period in fiscal year 2016-2017. Demand for building materials, especially cement, is growing

as the pace of urbanization in Myanmar accelerates, high-rise buildings are increasing, and Myanmar's infrastructure industry is gradually developing. Domestic and foreign cement manufacturing enterprises have identified the cement market in Myanmar and have gone to Myanmar to invest and set up factories. A cement production plant will be built in the city of Hakka, according to reports from

Chin State. After the completion of the cement plant, the first phase of the project will produce 5000 tons per day, and the second phase will increase 5000 tons, and the total output will reach 10000 tons per day.

It is understood that recently, Vice President Henry Bantiyu has visited the project area of the cement production plant in Hakabangsong area and participated in the working seminar.

Vice President Henry Bantiyu said that after the plant was put into operation, it could make up for domestic demand for cement, and there were also opportunities for export revenue. The raw materials needed for cement production can be obtained near the factory, so this project is very good, and I believe that if it is carried out steadily, it will certainly promote regional development. It is hoped that all parties will actively cooperate and coordinate.

It is understood that the cement plant is located at the junction of Chin State, Magway Province and Sagaing Province. After the plant is put into operation, it will reduce transportation costs, thus providing affordable cement to nearby provinces and States, promoting regional development and creating more employment opportunities.
