According to media reports, Navitas Solar, an Indian photovoltaic manufacturer, recently announced plans to invest 15 billion rupees (about 1.075 billion yuan) in an integrated manufacturing expansion project in Gujarat. The project includes the construction of a 3.6G W battery manufacturing plant and a pilot line for silicon wafers and ingots.
The above projects will be implemented in phases, with the first phase planned to be put into operation in 2027, and then the process will depend on market conditions. According to media reports, the above-mentioned project covers an area of more than 92200 square meters, and its civil engineering is in progress.
According to Navitas Solar, the cell manufacturing plant is being designed as a highly automated, future-oriented production platform that can support the next generation of solar cell technology. The production line will be upgradeable and flexible during construction to adapt to the evolving battery structure, and the specific promotion will depend on the maturity of relevant technologies and market conditions.
As an important part of the vertical integration layout , the company plans to build a pilot line of silicon wafers and silicon ingots in 2027.
The construction of the 3.6G W battery plant is in line with the ALMM (List of Approved Models and Manufacturers) List-II policy in India, which helps to improve the local battery production capacity in India. According to the
data, Navitas Solar currently has 3GW photovoltaic module production capacity, covering PERC and TOPCon modules; At the same time, the company enters the upstream through subsidiary Navitas Alpha Renewables, and lays out the manufacturing of photovoltaic packaging materials.
