On October 23, Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) launched an operation in Ogray, Ogun State, to destroy four lithium ore processing plants suspected of illegal operation, and arrested 15 suspects, including 14 Chinese citizens and one Nigerian.
EFCC's head of media and public affairs issued a circular on the 26th, saying that many bags of lithium ore, trailers and other items were seized at the scene of law enforcement.
The circular also said that the relevant investigation work is still in progress, and the suspects involved will be transferred to the court for prosecution after the investigation is completed.
Up to now, EFCC has not disclosed the identity information of the suspect, the specific weight of lithium ore seized on the spot, nor has it specified which regulation the factory involved violated. In addition, the Commission did not explain how the plants were operating illegally.
