(1) The development
of the global battery industry In 2025, the global battery production capacity showed a situation of partial expansion and overall contraction, the overseas non-Southeast Asian production capacity represented by India continued to expand, and the production capacity of China and the four Southeast Asian countries accelerated to shrink. The reduction of production capacity does not mean that the production line has been scrapped, the specific situation may be that the production capacity is in a state of phased shutdown, or the related assets are facing impairment.
By the end of 2025, the total global battery production capacity had decreased by 5.8% compared with the previous year, and the total global battery production had increased by 0.5% year-on-year, with a further decline in the year-on-year growth rate. N-type production capacity continues to maintain the mainstream position in the market by virtue of its significant advantages in efficiency, power generation performance and comprehensive cost performance. Changes in global battery production
from 2010 to 2025 (unit: GW)

Data source: CPIA, 2026.5
In 2025, Chinese enterprises still dominate, and there are few foreign enterprises among the top 30 battery enterprises in the world. However, due to the periodic imbalance between supply and demand, the effective capacity scale began to shrink, and a small amount of new battery capacity was mostly concentrated in the direction of XBC, while most enterprises chose to upgrade the original production line.
With the advantages of perfect industrial chain, abundant human resources and mature technology and infrastructure, China occupies a dominant position in the field of photovoltaic cells in Asia and even in the world . In addition to China, the total capacity of photovoltaic cells in other Asian countries in 2025 is 113 GW, mainly distributed in India, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Indonesia and other countries.
(2) Characteristics
of industrial development In 2025, China's photovoltaic cell industry entered the stage of rational adjustment of production capacity. TOPCon has completed the mainstream substitution of PERC, and enterprises continue to increase investment in efficiency improvement and transformation; the proportion of XBC has increased, the proportion of HJT has dropped, and the scale promotion has slowed down. Speed up the decentralized layout of
overseas production capacity. Faced with trade barriers , enterprises are actively exploring areas outside Southeast Asia, and some enterprises are building production capacity in Egypt and Turkey . The global manufacturing network is becoming more diversified.
At the same time, the expansion of overseas localization capacity has formed a structural squeeze on China's exports. Battery production capacity in the United States, Canada, Europe, India and other places also continued to expand. With the release of overseas production capacity, the demand for direct imports of batteries in China has contracted accordingly, and exports are facing double pressures of trade barriers and local substitution.
