India cancels import duty on cement

     India's Times of India reported on April 4 that the Indian government recently announced the abolition of import tariffs on cement and the abolition of 16% countervailing duties and 4% additional tariffs on Portland cement. It is reported that the Indian government's move is to depress the price of domestic cement and reduce inflation. < BR > < BR > & nbsp; In January last year, the price of 50 kg bags of cement in India was 165 rupees (about $3.75). In February this year, the price rose to 209 rupees (about $4.75), and now it has risen to 220 rupees (about $5). However, the Association of Indian Cement Producers expressed puzzlement and opposition to the government's sudden announcement of the abolition of import tariffs on cement.
