< P > < FONT face = Verdana > UltraTechCement wants to buy a plant with a capacity of 1.5 million metric tons to bolster its position in the fast-growing emerging markets of the Northeast. A person familiar with the deal said: The acquisition has completed a survey of the limestone-rich Jaintia Hills and has now turned to some statutory no-objection certificate procedures, mainly on issues related to lease mining and environmental protection in the Northeast.
