According to data released by Bolivia's National Statistics Institute (INE), the country's cement consumption contracted significantly in February 2026, with total national consumption falling to 201,000 tons, down 33.5% from 302,500 tons in the same period last year. This decline reflects the current pressure on the Bolivian cement market as a whole, with demand shrinking in most regions.
In terms of regional distribution, only Chuquisaca Province achieved positive growth in February, with cement demand increasing by 43.4% year-on-year and consumption reaching 26,500 tons, compared with 18,500 tons in the same period last year. All other regions experienced varying degrees of decline, with La Paz Province showing the sharpest decline, with demand plunging 55.5% year-on-year, from 91,500 tons to 40,700 tons, making it the region with the largest decline in the country that month. Tarija Province followed closely, with consumption falling by 49.3%, from 15 thousand tons to 7630 tons. Demand in Cochabamba also fell sharply by 39.6%, from 77,200 tons to 46,600 tons. In addition, Oruro and Pando provinces fell by 34.3% and 32.7% respectively, with consumption falling to 7287 tons and 1050 tons respectively. In Potosí, consumption fell by 30.6% to 10,800 tons. In Santa Cruz and Beni, the decline was relatively small, 16.3% and 12.3%, respectively, with consumption of 57,300 tons and 3,120 tons, respectively.
