According to foreign media reports, on July 17, the US Ministry of Commerce decided to impose a 93.5% anti-dumping duty on graphite, a key battery material imported from China, on the grounds that these materials were "unfairly subsidized".
The report pointed out that Tesla and its main battery supplier, Panasonic of Japan, had tried to block the ruling, saying that the domestic graphite industry in the United States could not meet demand in terms of quality and capacity, so the supply chain still relied on Chinese imports.
Graphite is widely used in the manufacture of electric vehicle batteries , energy storage systems and so on, and is the "hard currency" in the new energy supply chain. In addition, almost all of the refined graphite used by Tesla and other automotive companies and suppliers to produce batteries is supplied by China.
