Turkey's local media Turkiyetoday reported. It is planned to build a solar wafer and battery integrated chemical plant in Turkey.
It is reported that the plant is planned to be located in Balıkesir, northwest Turkey. The project will first start the silicon ingot slicing process, with an initial planned annual capacity of 2.5 GW and an estimated investment of about $ 200 million in the first phase of the project.
The project is to be promoted through the Astronergy Y Yüksek Teknoloji Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret A. The company is wholly owned by Astronergy Europe. However, the two partners plan to eventually achieve 50% shareholding through share transfer or capital increase transactions.
Earlier, on March 26 this year , Lu Chuan, chairman and President of Zhengtai Xinneng, met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The two sides reached an agreement on Zhengtai Xinneng's investment in building a solar cell factory in Turkey. According to the agreement, Zhengtai Xinneng will build an advanced TOPCon battery production line and plan to export 80% of its production capacity.

Four months later, foreign media reported on July 23 that Zhengtai Xinneng planned to invest $700 million (about 5.01 billion yuan) in Turkey to build a second solar cell module factory. The new plant will include cell and component manufacturing.
The plant, located in the western Turkish city of Balıkesir, will be built in two phases. In the first phase, the plant will produce solar wafers and batteries, with an annual capacity of 3GW. It is expected that by 2028, when the plant is fully operational, the capacity will reach 5G W. And produce photovoltaic modules at the same time.
At that time, Erc Ercüment Kaya, chairman of the Turkish branch of Zhengtai Xinneng, revealed that the company had completed its land acquisition in the Balıkesir Industrial Park and was expected to start construction of the plant by the end of 2025.
In addition, Chint has built a solar module plant with an annual production capacity of 1GW in the southeastern Turkish city of Adana.
