Digital New Energy DataBM. Com learned that on June 24, Shanxi Zhonglai 16GW Battery Factory (Phase I) silver-free BC Battery Technology Renovation Project was put on record and passed the pre-examination.
It is understood that Shanxi Zhonglai 16GW high-efficiency monocrystalline battery intelligent factory, with a total investment of 5.6 billion yuan, is divided into two phases to build 8GW TOPCon battery production line, which has been fully completed and put into operation. This technical transformation will upgrade and transform part of the production line in the first phase.
This technical renovation project is invested by Shanxi Zhonglai Solar Energy Battery Technology Co., Ltd. with a total investment of 700 million yuan . It is located in Xiaohe New Material and New Energy Industrial Base, No.61 Beige Street, Xiaohe Industrial Park, Shanxi Transition Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone. The transformation of this
project will be implemented in the self-owned No.1 battery workshop, and the original 5G W TOPCon production line and related supporting tooling will be upgraded and adjusted by purchasing new sintering furnace supporting equipment, laser equipment and other equipment. After the transformation, it has the ability to produce 5G W silver-free high-efficiency BC batteries . The total construction period of the
project is 24 months, which is planned to start in July 2026 and be completed and put into operation in June 2028.
It is noteworthy that after the completion of this technical renovation project, it is expected to produce 5G W silver-free BC batteries annually, with an average conversion efficiency of ≥ 27.3% and a maximum efficiency of more than 28% .
