According to the Indonesian Cement Association (Asperssi), in 2025, Indonesia's domestic cement sales reached 63.912 million tons, down 1.5% year-on-year, showing a moderate contraction trend. Affected by the change of government, Indonesia's fiscal expenditure structure has changed, and infrastructure construction supporting Indonesia's economic growth has slowed down in the past few years. At the same time, the relatively tight monetary policy has also restrained the demand for private housing construction. As a result, Indonesia's domestic cement demand declined slightly in 2025.
From the perspective of regional subdivision, Indonesia's domestic demand for cement is divided. As the core market, the annual demand of Java Island decreased by 0.8% to 33 million 264 thousand tons. Sulawesi and Kalimantan saw a more pronounced decline, down 5.1% and 16.1% respectively, with shipments of 5.111 million tons and 4.835 million tons respectively. The drop of nearly one-sixth in Kalimantan reflects the direct impact of the slowdown in mining and construction activity in the region on cement demand. However, some regions are still growing. Sumatra's annual demand increased by 1.7% to 14.284 million tons, Bali Nusa Tenggara by 5.2% to 4.299 million tons, and Maluku Papua by 1.4% to 2.12 million tons.
