The goal is to install 5G W of floating solar photovoltaic (FSPV) generation capacity on reservoirs and other inland water bodies with an integrated energy storage system (ESS) with a minimum storage capacity of 10G Wh.
In fiscal year 2025-2026, the installed capacity of non-fossil fuel power generation in India also reached a record high, with an increase of 55.29 GW . Bringing the country's total installed capacity of non-fossil fuel power generation to 283.46 GW . Among them, India will add about 37 GW of solar installed capacity in 2025, surpassing the United States in annual installed capacity and becoming the second largest solar growth market in the world. As of June 30, 2026, India's cumulative installed solar capacity has increased from nearly 3GW in 2014 to 162.15G W.
In recent years, India has launched a series of policies and infrastructure initiatives, such as the National Solar Mission, Competitive Reverse Bidding, Solar Park Program and Green Energy Corridor Program, which have played an important role in accelerating the deployment of renewable energy in the country.
According to the Solar Park Plan, 54 solar parks have been approved nationwide, with a total installed capacity of more than 39 GW. Competitive reverse bidding policies
aimed at reducing the cost of solar power generation have pushed the country's solar tariff down from about 18 rupees (1.27 yuan) per unit in 2010 to the current minimum of 2.44 rupees (0.17 yuan) per unit.

Under the "Prime Minister's Sunshine House: Simple Power Plan" (PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana) policy launched in 2024, the government has promoted the installation of household photovoltaic power generation projects by investing 750.21 billion rupees in subsidies. It is reported that India plans to achieve the goal of 500GW of non-fossil fuel power generation capacity by 2030, with the ultimate long-term goal of net zero emissions.
